So, yeah, totally cheated on this one, I used light and texture, but it is set in space so no shadows.

I saw this picture on Deviantart and frankly loved it. I loved the use of light and shadow but also his texturing. I am sure it is just a simple texture but never the less it really works for this piece of art.

This one is not a 3D modal (obviously) But I really like it because of really the lack of texture. Really a sort of less is more mentality and I really think it works. Granted it is water color and any form of real texture is imposable but still a nice use of minimalist texture.
